CASA Voices For Children is always looking for qualified individuals to reside on our board.

Becoming A Board Member

CASA is guided by an eleven member, volunteer Board of Directors which oversee the activities of the organization.

Role of a board member

Attend CASA Board meetings and committee meetings, cultivate financial support for the program, represent the agency at community events, provide references for board membership, and participate in the overall administration of the program.


Our Board Members

Phil Gordon

Phil and his wife Becky have lived in Chickasha since 1981 where they raised two children.  They are both active in the First Baptist Church of Chickasha.

Phil received his Juris Doctor in 1978 from the University of Oklahoma.

He is presently a practicing attorney in the law firm of Hays & Gordon in Chickasha.  He is involved in civil litigation, business law, probate and estate planning.

Phil has been on several boards such as Chickasha Chamber of Commerce, Board Member, Salvation Army Advisory Board, OSU Posse (Athletic Department) Advisory Board, OSU Bar Association Advisory Board, Member of Grady County Election Board, Oklahoma Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, OBA Law Day Committee Member, and OBA Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee Member.

Phil was excited to become a Board Member of CASA Voices for Children after listening to his daughter talk about her involvement with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority where she and her sisters annually raise funds for Payne County CASA.

Perry Ramsey

Perry and his wife, Virginia, have lived in Grady County for 45 years.
He is a graduate of Chickasha High School and Central State
University.  They are the proud parents of three sons, Steve, Jack and Dorsey.    They also have three grandchildren.

Perry retired as Vice President of Operations for Arvin Meritor.  After retirement from Arvin Meritor, he became the Small Business Coordinator of Canadian Valley Technology Center. He is currently a farmer and stockman.

As an active member of the community, Perry has served on Boards for Rotary, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Salvation Army, United Way, the Chamber of Commerce and Grady County Historical Society.

Perry and Virginia are members of the First Christian Church where he has served as an elder, treasurer and trustee.

Although he is involved in many endeavors, he believes that every child should have a safe, permanent and nurturing home.  By serving as a Board member of CASA Voices for Children, he hopes to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve.

Dianne Wilkins

Dianne has been a resident of Grady County since 1988. Dianne graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and worked as a petroleum engineer in the Oklahoma independent oil industry with the government of Trinidad and Tobago.  After returning to OK she worked as a social worker with the Department of Human Services before going to work as an environmental engineer with the OK Department of Environmental Quality. She has been the Pollution Prevention (P2) Program Manager for the past 16 years. Dianne has traveled to South Africa, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico and South Korea to deliver training and technical assistance to manufacturers and government employees.
Dianne is a former member of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council Pollution Prevention Workgroup and International Sub-Committee; Region 6 Board member for the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR); and Board member for Girl Scouts—Sooner Council. Presently she is a Board member for the Women Services and Family Resource Center, Chickasha Boys and Girls Club and Keep Oklahoma Beautiful. She is a Quality Examiner for the Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation.  
Dianne is a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where she is a catechist, lector and Minister of Communion. Dianne is the mother of four adult daughters.  She believes that children are, indeed, the future and that we all have a responsibility to assist each child in achieving their maximum potential.

Jane Porter

Jane Porter brings her experience of working with Special needs children in the Rush Springs School System to the Board of Directors.  After she graduated from the University of Oklahoma, she and her husband Jack settled in Rush Spring to raise their family.  Jane is currently a Speech Pathologist who serves the Rush Springs School System and the Sterling School System as their Director of Special Education.  She is a member of Oklahoma Director of Special Services and has also worked with the Co-op schools as well as Rush Springs Public School.

Ms. Porter’s love of children is expressed by her 28 years of experience in the schools.  CASA Voices for Children is very happy to have Ms. Porter’s administrative skills as well as her compassion to utilize on the board.

Tamara Carlson

Tamara was raised in Chickasha and is Treasurer of CASA Voices for Children, Inc.  She and her husband Chad now reside in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.    Tamara attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.  She has worked at the First National Bank and Trust Company in Chickasha for the last fifteen years.  She is an Assistant Trust Officer, and is presently attending Cannon Trust School.

With her expertise in finances and her great desire to help abused and neglected children, she is a valuable member of the Board of Directors.

Gerald Butcher

Gerald and his wife of 29 years are both graduates of Oklahoma State University.  They are the parents of three daughters.  Gerald is also an ordained deacon at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chickasha. 
Gerald, who has been employed by Western Farmers Electric Cooperative for 26 years, is the Senior Environmental Coordinator.  In this position he serves as a board member on various state and national organizations.

Gerald is involved with his church work, the United Way, Youth Soccer, Chickasha High School Basketball Boosters, National Rural Electric Environmental Association, and the Environmental Federation of Oklahoma

Gerald wo servers as Board Secretary, believes the importance of family can not be over emphasized in today’s world.  He states that many of these children have very little family support.  He hopes to make a difference by serving on CASA Voices for Children’s Board of Directors.

Paula Brooks

Paula is a graduate of Northwest Classen High School and Oklahoma State University. She and her husband Patrick have two daughters and two grandsons. They have resided in Chickasha since 1975. She has served as a board member of the Public School Foundation and is currently serving as a Trustee for the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. She served 10 years as a Junior Social Workers. She was also a board member and president of the Grady County Historical Society and served as Chairman of Operations. Paula is currently a member of Chapter CR - PEO, a philanthropic organization promoting education for women. She was also a Board member and President of the Grady County Historical Society and served as Chairman of the Operations Committee. As past President of the board, Paula was instrumental in the forming the CASA Voices for Children. She has donated many hours of work organizing our program.

Veda Bush

Veda is a long time resident of Grady County.  She has one son, three daughters and five grandchildren.  She is a graduate of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Veda has worked as a legal secretary and is currently the Administrative Assistant at Nicola Banking System in Chickasha.

Veda has served as a board member of Southwest Youth and Family Services, Past President of Chickasha Public School Foundation, President of Junior Social Workers.,   She currently serves as Board President.

Veda hopes that CASA Voices for Children will expedite the process of getting children in the best home as quickly as possible.

Katy Shaw

Katy is a lifelong member of the community, being a third generation resident of Grady County. Raised in a very large nuclear and extended family that had the Ross Seed Co. business, we always worked seasonally and after school in the family business.  Married for 35 years to Ted Shaw, we have raised 3 children, who now reside in Tulsa, Birmingham, Alabama, and Madison, Wisconsin.  Our first grandchild, Kate Newsome was born on December 2, 2007.

Being a former special education teacher, the welfare of children has always been a primary concern for me.  I have volunteered over the years with PTO organizations, church groups, and was a long-time Girl Scout leader and recruiter.                                  

After working now and then as a substitute teacher,and working at a local pharmacy as a pharmacy tech for a few years,  my present occupation is as an agency representative for Ross Health Care, a local business that offers home care involving home health, private care, and hospice services. 

Thomas Rose

Thomas Rose grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma and Boston University. He returned here in 1992 after 23 years service in the US Army and managing his own business in San Antonio for several years. Since his return he has been the Plant Manager for Aearo Co and the Business Assistance Coordinator for the Canadian Valley Technology Center. He has served on the Chamber of Commerce, The March of Dimes Walk America Board, and the Grady County Historical Society Board.

Tom has three sons and four grandchildren. He currently resides in Chickasha with his two adopted granddaughters.

Ann Cordell

Ann and her husband Tom were high school classmates and attended OSU. Ann graduated with a degree in Gamily Relations and Child Development. Following graduation, Ann served as the director of a child care center for three years in Idaho, while Tom attended law school. After returning to Oklahoma, Ann worked with the Department of Human Services. She has also been a substitute teacher in various Chickasha schools. She had served the Chickasha community through her involvement in numerous organizations including PTA; United Way; ten years with Junior Social Workers where she served in various offices; Board member and President of the Chickasha Public School Foundation. She is a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha where she has served as a deacon, youth sponsor and children’s Sunday school teacher. Her first love and priority has been to provide a loving, nuturing environment for her children – two sons, who were born and raised in Chickasha.

Ann and Tom have lived in Chickasha since 1981.

Ann knows that the early childhood years are the most important years in a child’s development. They need an environment which allows them to maximize their potential and helps them to develop their gifts and talents. CASA assists in providing the positive support that children need during these impressionable years.
